Meadow Yurt

Luxurious & Secluded Self-Catering Accommodation

Not every glamp site is the same.

If you dream of a idyllically secluded, rural retreat, that doesn’t compromise on luxury, you have come to the right place.

The Meadow Yurt at Southleigh Farm has been designed for you to relax, switch off and reconnect with nature. Nestled in a hay meadow, and bordering 200 acres of ancient woodland, this is a true escape from the 9 to 5 - the perfect rural retreat. The only neighbours you’ll be bothered by here is the gentle dawn chorus of birdsong and the buzz of the bees. Whether you’re looking for a romantic break, a family adventure or somewhere to reconnect with nature, we have just the spot.

Situated in the beautiful Chew Valley, with both the Cotswolds and Mendips Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the doorstep, The Meadow Yurt is in a wonderful location for exploring. But on a bus route with easy access to cities such as Bath, Bristol and Wells, you can plan urban adventures too.

We have designed a home away from home, with everything you need to relax into your stay. From champagne glasses for toasting, to marshmallows for roasting, we have it covered. The adjacent cabin has a fully-equipped kitchen & shower-room with hot running water, cooker & fridge-freezer. The secluded outside area has a large hot tub, fire pit, BBQ & seating area. Car parking is a stones throw away.

We have everything you need for a truly magical stay.

“Had the best few days staying in Rebecca and Simon's yurt. It was so magical, peaceful and cosy.”

The Space

  • The Yurt

A good nights sleep is guaranteed on the comfortable king size bed, with all seasons duvet and extra blankets. A heated blanket is also available if the nights are on the cool side. If the weather is dull, sit down for a softly lit dinner for two (or more) at the indoor dining table, or challenge each other to a board game. Watch the night sky through the skylight while listening to the crackle of the log burner, or the wind rustling the trees.

  • Family Friendly

Couples can enjoy a relaxing romantic break at the yurt. Two additional pull out single sofa beds can accommodate the kids too (or leave them at home!). A travel cot is available on request. We can accommodate extra tents and camping space in the field for additional families if required - just message for pricing.

We are sorry but the yurt is not suitable for stag or hen groups, and no amplified music is allowed on site (we don’t want to disturb the wildlife).

  • Private outdoor space and hot tub

The outdoor area is joyously peaceful. Head onto the deck outside the yurt to while away the hours watching the local wildlife go about their day. Or make the most of the vast space and play some outdoor games. Enjoy cooking al fresco on the BBQ/firepit, and after dinner take a restorative dip in the hot tub. Relax around the campfire long into the night toasting marshmallows from the rustic log seating, while enjoying the glorious night sky above. The hot tub will be ready to go on your arrival, and wood and firelighters are all provided.

You will also find local OS Maps and binoculars in the yurt, for any walking and wildlife enthusiasts.

  • Kitchen and shower room

A stones throw from the yurt is a stylish cabin, built using sustainably sourced materials from the next door woodland and other reclaimed vintage items. The cabin houses a fully fitted kitchen and shower room. The kitchen has a sink, gas cooker, and fridge for chilling the wine (all cutlery, pans, plates, glasses, mugs etc. are there too). Washing up liquid, tea towels, and some basic supplies are all provided for you to use. Your private shower room has a full-size shower and reclaimed Victorian sink with hot running water. There is also a compost loo, so brilliantly designed you will hardly notice the difference.

Natural soap and shower gel, towels and bathrobes are all provided, and we promise you’ll never run out of hot water.

  • Log burner

A log-burning stove will keep you cosy on those cooler evenings. If the British weather turns bad, snuggle up by the fire with a good book, or enjoy a cuppa and a chat on the sofa while the log burner roars.

Wood and firelighters are all provided for your stay. If you run out we can top you up on request.

  • Total privacy

The whole 6 acre meadow is yours to enjoy. There are no public footpaths in the meadow, so your only neighbours will be the deer, badgers, foxes and owls visiting from the nearby woods.

We encourage you to switch off whilst here - it’s worth noting there is no Wifi at the yurt.

  • Absolutely beautiful place to stay, very secluded and waking up to deer outside the yurt was lovely! Also very clean and attention to detail was great. A cosy place to stay for a couples weekend away!

  • It was such an amazing getaway from Bristol for us. You would never have thought such a gem is literally 20 minutes away from Bristol. The yurt is amazing and very cozy. The outdoor space is unexpectedly way bigger than we expected but surprisingly feels very private and secluded. Definitely recommending this place.
